I recently stayed in Catalonia Born as a part of a package deal on Priceline to Barcelona from Atlanta. Here’s a quick summary of my stay and the Born area.
The born area is quiet. There were not many restaurants and nothing really in distance with the exception of Arc De Triomf. If you are interested in seeing the city for cheap, there is a hop on hop off bus. We were short on time and saved money by taxing to a few top destinations such as Park Guell and Sagrada Familia.
Catalonia Born Hotel
We arrived slightly early and checked our bags until the room was ready. There was a nice restaurant directly apart that has good breakfast and dinner. The restaurant is frequently packed. The room was a decent size and offered a balcony.
The hotel offers evening reception for snacks. There were a lot of gnats around the snacks so I declined. Everything seemed decent except the guest near us was smoking and we noted this and there was nothing done. the Hotel is supposedly non smoking. The other unpleasant thing is that there was a roach in the bathroom. We were only there short period of time. When we noted the roach, the attendant seem to not care until we showed a photo.
Also the Uber drivers seemed to have a hard time locating the hotel and usually dropped us off far or couldn’t find it. The downside to using Priceline or any other non direct is since you receive such a discounted rate, the staff is usually unwilling to upgrade or do anything to compensate. The hotel is decent if you are looking for a quiet tucked away hotel and no frills. The bed was comfortable and I would give it 3.5 stars. Due to the area I would not stay again. We headed to the French Riviera and when we returned we stayed in the Diagnol area. I would recommend the Diagnol area due to the proximity to a lot of things including the beach.
